One Rebel Mother Actionist Fighting for Family/Food/Coaching-based Treatment of Brain Starvation (Anorexia)
Welcome. I am a mother of an adult daughter “Recovering” from Brain Starvation (Anorexia). The system failed us for years and I am looking for answers. Professionals told us to ignore our instincts and now years later our instincts are what helped her. I support Family/Food/Coaching-based Treatment of Brain Starvation (Anorexia).
Therapists, Treatment Centers, all of them succeeded in isolating her (even moving her across the country), and enabling and supporting her to exclude and blame her family for her illness. A family that desperately needed information and wanted to help, but felt helpless. Shame on them. I am One Rebel Mother Actionist, Karen Barber trying to “Make A Difference” with all the help and resources that I can find. Please help me by sharing your success stories or comments and those not successful. Together we can help others and perhaps shorten some of the patient and family sufferings.

I agree that anorexia is a genetic disorder triggered by some event. I have never been to treatment but after nearly 50 years of changing faces of eating disorders (anorexia to binge eating) I know that one treatment method does not work for all. I get the “instinct” part though I have never heard anyone use it. We are too conditioned to listen to the voices of others rather than our own.
Thank you Dedi. Anything you have to share about the subject would be great. I agree one treatment doesn’t fit everyone, but it seems that I don’t hear traditional therapy and centers helping many for the long term.
Wow, you’ve certainly done a lot with this site since last spring! Congratulations on your hard work. Hope things have been going well for you.
Hi Scarlett, Thank you for the compliment. I know how hard you work on your blog, answering every comment, engaging.
My daughter has been in a good Recovery since June 29, 2011, which makes me feel happy and lucky.
I also hope things are going well for you. Hope you will stay in touch and comment on my posts candidly.
Fondly, Karen
